Larios gin

larios gin

Larios gin is next to Gordon’s one of the best known and most drinked gins in the world. Its history dates back to Malaga in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries with the family of the Marquis of Larios.

This family acquired in 1933 a company dedicated to the distillation of wines and brandis and that created this distillate that bears the surname of the family. Today we can see in Malaga one of its main avenues with that name.

It is a classic gin, London Dry Gin type. Let’s look at the analysis, reviews and opinions of this Spanish gin.

Features of Larios Gin

This alcoholic beverage is obtained by double distillation of wild enebro in the first place and 100% natural botanicals such as haitian bitter oranges and Mediterranean lemons.

It is as we say the result of a double distillation in copper stills of the best aromatic plants and fruits being therefore a fresh and lively gin with all the essence of the Mediterranean. These are its main ingredients:

  • Juniper berries, bitter orange and lemon.

The bottle

Visually the drink is presented in a transparent and screen-printed bottle with a crystalline and relatively square appearance of sober and austere appearance with a capacity of 1 liter, somewhat different from the typical bottle of 70 cl. It’s quite similar to the one used by Gordon’s

Tasting notes

Visually we observe a fine, clear and transparent liquid.

On the nose it evokes floral and spicy aromas that prepares us for a refreshing experience.

In the mouth you can see a subtle citrus mixture of fruits that combine with the previous aromas driving that refreshing and Mediterranean flavor.

The finish is clean and persistent.

Drinking Larios Gin

It is a distillate for those who do not allow themselves to be influenced by fashions and seek their Lifelong Gin Tonic; Ideal for long combinations. However, although in principle it is a classic drink it is a multipurpose gin due to its citrus notes that we can use for both gintonics “to be at home” and for more elaborate cocktails.

Gin Tonic de Larios

INGREDIENTS: Tonic Britvic

ALCOHOL: Larios Gin

ADEREZO: Lemon bark and half moon orange

FORMATO: Ball cup

We will use as a container a wide glass ball cup that will help in the presentation of gin tonic.

Then pour 4 or 5 large, hard ice cubes into the cup to get started. Cool the glass by moving the ice in circles with the help of the braided spoon and then remove the excess water. We remember that abundant ice is one of the secrets to making a good combination of gin.

It’s time to pour the lemon. To keep the tonic bubbles from being lost, never add the juice or pulp, as they disappear when the citric acid is joined with the carbonic anhydric. We add the orange crescent.

It’s time to add 5 or 6 cl of gin to the combined

Finally, slowly pour the tonic using a braided rod resting in the center of the cup and tilted 45o, which of course must be very cold to highlight the botanicals and gin. Finally remove very gently and let it rest for half a minute. We’ve got it ready!
