This Sevillian gin, inspired by the time of the Catolicos Kings when Seville became the capital of the world and from where the trips to the so-called Indies began, is characterized by being produced by artisanal methods in stills almost a century and a half old.

The classic version of the brand results in a classic and dry gin similar to that of the London Dry Gin. The Pure Black Edition version is for those who like the bitterness and strength of a good distillate and finally, we have the pink gin or strawberry version that is the most popular of the three and that we will deal with in this article.

Let’s look at the analysis, reviews and opinions of this Spanish pink gin.

Strawberry Port of Indies Gin Features

Port of Indies is made with a selection of botanicals whose formula is jealously stored

It is classified as gin although its aromatization and sweet note bring it very close to what we consider to be a liquor. Aromas of broeper, strawberry, red fruits and sugar are added to neutral-based alcohol.

These are its main ingredients:

  • Juniper berries, strawberry, red fruits and sugar.

The bottle

Visually the drink is presented in a transparent round and slender bottle with a capacity of 70 cl. Its shape reminds us of a tower that could well be the Golden Tower that served as a lookout in the time of the Indies. The bottle bears a silver and round seal with an image of the time.

Tasting notes

Visually it has a pink color of low intensity and bright.

On the nose it evokes fruity notes of blueberry, strawberries, pineapple in conjunction with citrus notes of orange and grapefruit that prepares us for a refreshing experience.

On the palate you can see a subtle mixture of sweet and fruity notes such as strawberry, red fruits, blueberry and some citrus touch.

The finish is medium and sweet fruity notes appear that combine with a bitter dot.

How to take Gin Port of Indies

Although the natural companion of gin is usually the tonic, in this case we have a different gin that looks for a fruity and sweet point to combine, so instead of the usual tonic that accompanies the gin, we can combine it with a soft drink of lime and lemon for example thus enhancing its most fruity side. An apple mixer also suits you very well.

Gin Tonic from Port of Strawberry Indies

ALCOHOL Drink: Strawberry Puerto de Indias

DRESSED: Strawberries, blackberries or other sweet be

FORMAT: Ball Cup

We will use as a container a wide glass ball cup that will help in the presentation of gin tonic.

Then pour 4 or 5 large, hard ice cubes into the cup to get started. Cool the glass by moving the ice in circles with the help of the braided spoon and then remove the excess water. We remember that abundant ice is one of the secrets to making a good combination of gin.

It’s time to pour two or three slices of strawberry in addition to blackberries or other sweet berries.

Next, we pour in the glass 5 or 6 cl of gin.

Finally, slowly pour the Sprite drink using a braided rod resting in the center of the cup and tilted 45o, which of course must be too cold to highlight the botanicals and gin. Finally remove very gently and let it rest for half a minute. We’ve got it ready!
